ValueGel alginate (Student Grade) (4 minute @ 70 degree water)
Many of our customers are looking for a good alginate. They just want to do one or two projects that fit within their small budget. These folks don't need all the fancy "bells and whistles" we build into our professional grade alginates. Because of that we've figured out how to make 470-SG alginate quite a bit less expensive to make- so we pass the savings on to you.
It's true that 470-SG alginate doesn't have quite the tear strength or advanced non-slump properties of our other alginates. However, we've found that a lot of folks just don't need those for their project.
While the standard mixing ratio is 3:1, it can easily be mixed thinner than that for simple jobs like hand casting. We regularly mix it at 3.5:1 or even 4:1 and get very good results. Mixing thinner will always make an alginate take longer to set so be prepared for an extra minute or so of working time.
470-SG is for you to do a couple of hand casts or even a face cast, but don't plan to continue lifecasting afterward. Lifecasting doesn't have to be expensive. This is a very good product at a great price.
